Unveiling the Shadows: The Dark Dominion Masquerade at Stationer’s Hall, London

In the heart of London, on the fateful night of October 28th, 2023, Stationer’s Hall bore witness to an enchanting spectacle of darkness and revelry – The Dark Dominion Masquerade. This villain-themed fantasy ball captivated attendees with an immersive experience, blending fantasy, literature, and dance into a night that transported guests to a world where shadows danced and masquerades held secrets.

As the clock struck the hour, Stationer’s Hall transformed into a realm of fantasy and villainy. Guests, adorned in elaborate and intricate costumes, embraced their darker alter egos. The air was thick with an air of mystery and excitement, as attendees showcased their creativity and imagination in a stunning display of villainous couture.

As guests entered the building, they were greeted by our gilded table, sponsored by the Plated Prisoner Series by Raven Kennedy. On the table lay glasses of prosecco that sparkled with gold and a topped with the cover of the next book in the series – GOLD. As our villains walked through the hallowed halls, they finally entered the ballroom, where they were greeted by ballerinas prancing around the room.

After the ballerinas finished their performance, the room went silent with anticipation. Out came figures in dark robes, carrying candles and slowly walking towards the audience. Then, came the host our the evening walking down the centre of the ballroom. After that, tall figures with swords and furs came bursting through the doors. These were all the ‘magic makers’ of the evening, coming out to greet and explain the proceedings of the night.

As they finished explaining all that was in store, the hooded figures removed their cloaks and revealed themselves as the dance teachers of the evening. Thus began a night of immersive activities. The Covent Garden Dance Company transported guests to the elegant and sinister world of 18th-century historical dancing. The grandeur of the courtly dances added a touch of sophistication to the evening, allowing attendees to revel in the enchantment of a bygone era while embracing their inner villains.

Magic in the Court Room

In the stunning Court Room, The Academy of the Wolf held court, offering guests a chance to delve into the art of villainy. Attendees could participate in potion-making classes, learning the secrets of elixirs and brews that befitted the darkest of characters. Theory classes delved into the psychology of villainy, teaching aspiring miscreants how to embrace their malevolent personas.

Outside, in the moonlit garden, The Academy of the Wolf took on a more adventurous role, offering sword-fighting lessons to those daring enough to test their mettle. It was a night where fantasy and reality collided under the tutelage of seasoned experts.

Mysterious Memories in the Ballroom

As the evening went on with guests dancing in their ballgowns and capes in the ballroom and magic being made in the Court Room, there was something for everyone. Then as the clock struck, it was time to announce the winner of the costume competition. Attendees vied for the coveted title of Best Costume, with the winner receiving not only a regal crown by Sweet V but also an exclusive collection of all the Plated Prisoner books authored by the renowned Raven Kennedy. The competition was fierce, with each costume telling a unique story of villainous splendor. The award was given to a beautiful person who had handmade a stunning headpiece and put together an intricate outfit that screamed villain. We also gave a special thank you to another guest who wore a beautiful golden dress inspired by King Midas, just as would be worn in the books by Raven Kennedy.

After the applause for our costume competition winner died down, a DJ took the stage, spinning tunes inspired by literary masterpieces. From haunting melodies to pulse-pounding beats, the music encapsulated the essence of the night, leaving attendees in a trance of rhythmic enchantment. The dance floor became a stage for villains to revel in the shadows, celebrating a night of darkness and mystery.
