The Elemental Ball

The Elemental Ball: A Night of Peace, Magic and Myth at Oxford Town Hall

On the 2nd of November, Oxford Town Hall transformed into a realm of wonder as the Courts of Earth, Water, Fire, and Air gathered under one roof for Mystic Fate’s largest ball yet: The Elemental Ball. With its immersive storytelling, breathtaking performances, and interactive experiences woven throughout every corridor, the event created a night where fantasy became reality — and peace between the Four Courts was finally within reach.

A Grand Arrival into a Living Fantasy

Guests ascended the Town Hall’s sweeping staircase into the grand ballroom, greeted by the ethereal sound of an organist playing beloved fantasy film themes, including music from The Hobbit. The atmosphere was electric; cloaks swept, crowns glimmered, and costumes from every corner of the courts shimmered in torchlight and chandeliers.

Then, silence swept the room as The Mythra, our radiant host, stepped onto the stage. Wearing a gown by Euriell Vaire Creations paired with a mesmerizing colour-changing, light-up skirt by Engineered Couture, she addressed the assembly. As she spoke to each Court, the gown shifted hue—earthy greens, fiery reds, ocean blues, and airy silvers—symbolizing unity in fabric and light.

Her words were followed by a performance from eight acrobats, their movements weaving a visual story of the four elements uniting. With this, the Mythra declared the ball officially begun.

Dancing through the Courts

In the ballroom, the Covent Garden Minuet Company led guests through historical dances. No experience was needed; dance assistants glided through the room offering guidance, and a live quartet filled the hall with elegance and charm. For many guests, it was a chance not only to learn but to connect—solo travellers, couples, and groups of friends all joined hands in circles that bridged the Courts.

Rooms of Story, Art and Adventure

Beyond the ballroom, guests discovered a world of experiences:

The Council of Fire

it dramatically in reds and golds with flickering candles and roaring fires, this room invited guests to draw live models adorned in snakes and feathers, using old-time paper for a timeless artistic challenge.

Lore Room & Trial by Water

In the Lore Room, visitors learned the history of the Four Courts and signed the Peace Treaty, pledging unity.

From there, they stepped into the Court Room for the Trial by Water, an immersive theatre experience where audience members became the jury, guards, and judge. Together they unraveled the mysteries behind the war’s origins—and chose its outcome. Each participant received a certificate marking their role in shaping history.

The Assembly Room

Here, acrobats soared from a towering structure while Olivia Rose James painted a magical scene live: a woman conjuring spells in a library.

Nearby, the House of YA booth gathered a crowd as guest authors Lauryn Hamilton Murray, Bea Fitzgerald, and Connie Glynn signed books before hosting a Q&A session moderated by beloved BookTok creator Coco.

The Old Library

A hub of creativity and keepsakes, the Old Library featured:

  • A design booth by Euriell Vaire Creations where guests could envision their dream gowns
  • A photobooth and 360 booth for capturing the night’s magic
  • A Unity Bracelet station where attendees crafted jewelry using treasures from all four courts

Coronation of the Courts

As midnight 9pm drew nearer, the ballroom filled again—this time for the Costume Contest. Handcrafted outfits representing each Court were celebrated as finalists stepped forward. Winners received exquisite crowns from Costurero Real and wands from House of Wandcraft. Each coronation was marked by the Mythra’s gown glowing in the colour of the honored Court, a seamless blend of costume and storytelling.

The Final Celebration

The dancing surged to life with a DJ set of sweeping, cinematic tracks that made every guest feel like the protagonist of their own adventure. An electric violinist in a glamorous ballgown lit up the stage with electrifying melodies.

Then came the surprise: the organist from earlier—Reductio—returned, this time dropping techno remixes of classical favourites that set the ballroom alight.

At the night’s end, the Mystic Fate team took the stage to thank the gathered Courts and guide everyone into our traditional final song: Bohemian Rhapsody, sung by hundreds of voices united.

A Night to Remember

From breathtaking performances to story-driven adventures, the Elemental Ball brought together strangers and friends alike. It wasn’t just a ball—it was a community, a story, and a celebration of imagination. Every corner offered opportunities to mingle, create, and make memories. Communities formed naturally—age, background, and origin mattered little. Fantasy was the common language.

One of the most touching moments of the night was a proposal between two guests the grand staircase, greeted with applause from everyone nearby. Magic, indeed.

So in the end…The Four Courts danced the night away, and peace reigned at last.

Until next time, may the elements guide your path. ✨
